Tech volunteers

Role Summary

My Sight Nottinghamshire promotes greater independence for visually impaired people of all ages. We provide support, advice, information and activities for people with sight loss living in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire.

Tech Volunteer

Location: My Sight head office, remote working, service user homes

Responsible to: Services Manager

  • To support service users to access online services/apps
  • To support service users with any technical issues
  • To support service users with being more confident in using online services/apps
  • To support isolated service users to get online to undertake activities
  • To support services users to become more independent

Time commitment: Up to 5 hours per week

  • Excellent IT skills
  • Knowledge of assistive technology equipment apps and software is desirable but training will be given
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of troubleshooting, setting up online services such as shopping, smart speakers etc
  • Must have internet connection and connected device (smart phone, tablet etc)

Mileage is paid at 45p per mile, bus and travel tickets are reimbursed. Lunch is paid for at a maximum of £5.00 if you are volunteering for 5 or more hours

Additional telephone call costs will also be reimbursed. Any PPE needed for the role will be provided and we will cover any other reasonable expenses incurred as part of your volunteer role.
