Volunteer

Home Delivery Volunteer

Role Summary

Home Delivery Volunteers help customers who are unable to visit the library themselves due to health or mobility issues. As a Home Delivery Volunteer, you will pick up and deliver books to our vulnerable customers in their homes. If both you and the customer are comfortable doing so, you can bring the books into their home. Alternatively, you can drop books at the customer’s doorstep, and collect any returns that they may have ready to take back to the library.

If you would like to, you can choose to select the customer’s books yourself based on customer preferences, or the library staff can prepare these for you to collect.

The Home Delivery service enables our homebound service users to continue to have access to books and other library materials which may provide a lifeline for those living alone or who are unable to get out very often.

Due to the fact that our Home Delivery Volunteers may go into the homes of our vulnerable customers who could be elderly, have mobility issues or are socially isolated, they are required to have a DBS check.

We currently have demand in the following areas:

  • Sutton-in-Ashfield
  • Mansfield
  • Balderton
  • Bilsthorpe
