Local people from the Butterfly end-of-life care project were treated to a crafty Christmas thanks to both the Butterfly and the Point of View (POV) project.
The session, held on Tuesday 5th December at the Healdswood group, brought people together to socialise and make Christmas crafts. They were joined by a young artist from Vision West Notts College.
The Butterfly Group meets every week at Healdswood Community Centre, Stanton Hill, to provide much needed friendship and support to individuals with life limiting conditions.
The Point of View Project provides younger volunteers with meaningful volunteering opportunities to support groups, alongside their further educational studies, within their local area. The group meets every Tuesday 10am – 12 noon enjoying a variety of activities, including Arts, Crafts and quizzes. It is lovely to see a wide range of volunteer experience sharing the passion for supporting community groups.
The session included Christmas-card making, a festive-themed quiz and a buffet to celebrate the season, which delighted service users and got them into the Christmas spirit. Ellie May Richardson, a Year 1 student, completing a Level 3 Art and Design at Vision West College joined in the craft session.
Ellie is one of our volunteers supporting community-based projects through The POV Project, which empowers 16–24-year-olds to volunteer alongside academic courses.
Su Hallam, Volunteer Engagement and Development Officer for Mansfield CVS said “It was great to bring together a local budding artist with the friendship group for some fun seasonal shenanigans. Everybody really enjoyed taking part and making merry memories”.
