The IV role is unique and aims to help the young person develop a positive 1:1, long lasting friendship with a trusted adult outside of the care system. Someone who isn’t paid to be there for them.

Companion Service Volunteer
Role Summary
A companion volunteer can choose to be:
- A companion video / telephone caller
- A companion within the parents home
- Or a companion of all 3
Skills or interests needed:
- Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis
- Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report form accurately and regularly
- Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.
- Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity
There will be an interview, references and a DBS check will be taken, a level of which will be dependant on the tasks you are involved with. Induction training plus training specific to the role will be provided.
