FoodCycle: FREE weekly community meal
FoodCycle are launching a FREE weekly community meal in Mansfield on the 11th March 2024. We use surplus fruit and veg to create a delicious 2 or 3 course meal from scratch for our guests to enjoy. The meal is led by local volunteers who are wishing to support their community. The meal will run every Monday.
Our volunteer roles include cooks, hosts and project leaders.
Our cooking volunteers help plan, prepare, and plate the meal before cleaning up at the end of a rewarding session. Shifts run from 1pm – 6pm every Monday.
Our hosting volunteers help set up the dining area, welcome our guests, provide drinks and serve the food before cleaning down at the end of a rewarding session. Shifts run from 3pm-6pm every Monday.
Our project leaders support either the cooking or hosting team, making sure that the session runs smoothly and acting as a source of support for volunteers and guests. The shifts will be the same as the volunteer cooks or hosts depending on if they are a cook project leader or hosting project leader.
Full training is provided and no prior experience is needed. Volunteers are reimbursed up to £15 for travelling to the project either through public transport or by driving.
The project is located at The Salvation Army, Victoria Street, Mansfield, NG18 5SB.
One can register to volunteer and sign up to a session of their choosing on our website: www.foodcycle.org.uk
