Mansfield CVS todays welcomes a new Chief Executive Officer, Vanessa Whitton.
Vanessa offers a wealth of knowledge and experience within both the public and private sector and becomes the first BAME female leader of the organisation.
Vanessa said: “I have experience of working within the public & private sector as well as the voluntary and community sector.
I have a good understanding of the variety of complex issues that impact some of the residents of Mansfield; the risk of homelessness, domestic violence, substance misuse, mental & physical health inequalities, digital exclusion, poor transport links, low attainment levels, debt & poor financial resilience, and high unemployment (to name but a few). However, these issues now include the aftermath of Covid-19, an astronomical rise in the cost of living and the war in Ukraine, so I understand that there are some very challenging times ahead.
I am passionate about empowering individuals to be able to bring about positive change but also understand the importance of being able to evidence the support that has been provided. I believe that it is key to be at the forefront of the health agenda, to remove the digital divide and focus on ensuring that there are opportunities available for everyone.
I feel that my experience of the private & public sector gives me a good understanding of what is needed to bring about change and it isn’t enough to just have ‘good ideas’.
I believe that MCVS’s strategic plan sets out clear objectives and that with the ongoing commitment from the MCVS Board, colleagues and our partners, we will be able to continue the great work of my predecessor, Steve Morris.
If you would like to discuss ways that we may be able to work together, please do not hesitate to get in contact at info@mansfieldcvs.org or call 01623 392444.
We will promote your training event via our website training diary, social media, newsletter and database.
