Information for Volunteers
Volunteering is an incredibly rewarding experience that should benefit both you and the organisation you are working for.
For many voluntary organisations in particular, volunteers are a vital part of their team without whose time, skills and knowledge they could not operate. Even just offering an hour of your time a week can really make a difference.
Mansfield Volunteer Centre
Mansfield Volunteer Centre is situated within Community House and managed by Mansfield CVS. It offers a volunteer brokerage service matching potential volunteers with opportunities across Mansfield and District.
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities on our database and can search for specific roles, if you have something in mind, on your behalf.
What can I expect?
Volunteers are part of a work team, and in the workplace they have the same rights as employed staff. Though you will not be paid, volunteers can expect:
- Payment of expenses (e.g. travel)
- A job description outlining your role and responsibilities
- Training and support
Who can become a volunteer?
The simple answer is anyone! There are fewer roles for under-16s, but opportunities are out there. We can point you in the right direction if you don’t know where to start.
There is something for everyone, no matter what your skills, experience or availability. Even people who work full time may be able to offer a couple of hours a week to coach a youth sports team or serve refreshments.
