BIG Warsop

The project is about bringing together all the local talent, ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live.

The Warsop Big Local area includes five individual settlements, quite geographically separated. A semi-rural area, which prospered during coal mining with the industry providing work, social activity and facilities.  Warsop is now in different times, but excited about using our Big Local resources to bring about positive changes to the lives of local people across the Parish.

Mansfield CVS have been one of the partners in the BIG Warsop programme since its inception, and currently acts as the LTO (Local Trusted Organisation) for the group.  The Big Warsop partnership worked tirelessly on engagement and promotional activities in the early phases, leading to developing the local profile and films of community needs and aspirations.

In September 2013, the first plan was approved by Local Trust, focusing on strengthening the community and building skills, especially among young people. A community chest is now well established in partnership with the Rotary Club of Warsop, Shirebrook & District.  It was approved in September 2013. It runs for a year and focuses on two of our three big priorities that arose from the consultation.

Big Warsop is here to help and support local groups and organisations to make Warsop an even better place to live. It does not look to run things itself.
