What is a Community Champion?
A Community Champion is someone who cares about their community. Someone people can trust.
If you dedicate your time to local people in Mansfield, either as part of your job, as a volunteer or because you’re just that sort of person - you are a Community Champion!
We think Community Champions can help us save lives and stop the spread of Coronavirus.
Coronavirus is spreading in some of our communities in Mansfield faster than the rest of the population. Some of this is because we struggle to get information out to people. Some don’t have the internet, some struggle to understand government guidance, and when things change so quickly, some people just can’t keep up.
That’s where you come in.
How can you help?
We want to help everyone to stay safe. We’re need local people to talk to their communities in Mansfield about Coronavirus. Information they can believe in from someone they can trust.
We’re not asking you to stop what you’re doing, far from it! We want you to crack on doing your bit. And whilst you’re doing that please help us spread these simple messages about staying safe, looking after yourself and looking out for each other.
It’s not all doom and gloom, there’s hope, joy and community spirit. But we can’t do this alone and we need Community Champions to make sure that life-saving information gets through, so that we can get through it together. And nobody gets left behind.
As a Community Champion we’ll give you everything you need to talk about coronavirus as well as additional help or funding so that you can keep doing what you do to make a difference.
What’s in it for me and my community?
By getting involved you’re helping save lives in Mansfield. By talking about ways to stay safe, looking after yourself and vaccination you can stop the spread of Coronavirus with some of our most vulnerable people.
You’ll also help tackle unhelpful coronavirus rumours, fake news and untruths.
How can I get involved?
Join us for a Community Champions Cuppa on Wednesday 3 March. This is a chance for anyone thinking of becoming a Community Champion to hear more.
