Shaping Our Future Consultation Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) is consulting on proposed new ways of working that will help us achieve the necessary savings we need to make as austerity measures continue to impact the emergency services and other public sector organisations.
The consultation focuses on how NFRS can continue to deliver high quality services to our communities, ensuring our resources are in the right place at the right time, within the financial constraints we are facing.
We’ve already reduced our spending by £13 million since 2010, but we need to continually assess the way we do things to ensure they befit a modern, progressive fire and rescue service.
The Service is dedicated to the safety, care and protection of all its residents, and this has meant we have significantly increased our focus on prevention, whilst ensuring we respond to the changing demands and requirements of our communities. This has led to a dramatic fall in emergency call outs that our firefighters now attend.
The proposed changes we are consulting on may affect how some fire stations are crewed in the future so it is very important that you have the opportunity to take part.
The consultation runs until Sunday 17 December and you can give your views by visiting the consultation website, www.opinionresearch.co.uk/nfrs. If you require more information or a printed version of the survey please telephone 0115 967 0880 or email talk2us@notts-fire.gov.uk. You can also find out more by using #NFRSconsultation on social media.

Find Out MoreFollowing retirement from employment, Mansfield Voluntary Service (C.V.S) have given me so much help and advice to start up our community group over 10 years ago. We wanted to get the children in the community a new play park. Without the help of Mansfield C.V.S directing us how to write and prepare a Business plan we wouldn’t have achieved the £68,000 to pay for it.
