North Derbyshire Women’s Aid

North Derbyshire Women’s Aid

is a registered charity that provides advice, support and temporary accommodation to women and their children from diverse backgrounds who are or have been experiencing domestic abuse in the local authority areas of Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover.  We are looking for women who have an understanding of the issues around domestic abuse, who have organisational and communication skills and the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team. A commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice is essential. 

Pay rates quoted are 2007/2008 – pay award pending.

 

We are inviting applications for the following posts:

 

Art Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Art Therapist, registered with BAAT and HPC, who has experience of working with children and the ability to manage their own caseload. You will be required to offer individual art therapy sessions to children aged from 4 to 17 who are resident in our two refuges or living in the community.  The post is 30 hours per week (Contract initially until end of March 2010, although we hope to extend until March 2011).

Local Government Pay Point 26 (2007/08 £21412 pro rata plus 6% pension).

Provisional interview date:  Monday 15 December

 

Sessional Children’s Support Workers

To assist with the planning and provision of regular appropriate play and educational activities for children living in our two refuges in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire.  Applicants must have NVQ3 or equivalent in Childcare, as well as experience of working with children in a supportive environment and an understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on women and children. Mutually convenient sessions are pre-arranged.  A degree of flexibility is desired to meet the needs of the project, covering for absence of permanent workers.  The rate of pay is £7.96 per hour.  Provisional interview date:  Friday 12 December Relief Refuge/Advice Centre Workers

To offer housing related support to women and their children in our two refuges, and telephone or face to face advice and support at the Advice and Drop In Centre.  Applicants need to have an understanding of the issues around domestic abuse, and organisational skills along with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.  Mutually convenient sessions are pre-arranged.  A degree of flexibility is desired to meet the needs of the project, covering for absence of permanent workers.  The rate of pay is £9.43 per hour. 

Provisional interview date:  Wednesday 10 December
