First Contact Signposting Scheme

Submitted by admin on Fri, 15/09/2006 - 17:33.

First Contact Signposting Scheme

Many people have benefited from being put into touch with services relevant to their situation: in Mansfield & District nearly 2000 checklists have been completed, resulting in approximately 3800 referrals being made.  Alongside this all the agencies involved have been able to help people who had not heard of or used their services.   One simple checklist often enables people aged over 60 to receive vital services to stay safe and independent in their own homes.  If a staff member from any of the partner agencies goes into a home, such as a firefighter, police officer or volunteer, they will complete a checklist to find out if the older person has any other particular needs.

Should a person's circumstances change another checklist can be completed to access different services.

The project is based at Mansfield Community and Voluntary Service and for more information contact Annette Harpham on 01623 651177 or email at aharpham@mansfieldcvs.org

Seldom Heard Project

Seldom Heard

Terry and Celia (officially called Community Outreach Advisers) have been to various lunch clubs, interest groups & faith groups with information packs, extra information about events and services and First Contact forms.  The latest addition to our touring packs is a Nintendo Wii which Terry uses to motivate those reluctant to exercise or to engage with modern technology in stepping outside their comfort zones.  The boxing seems to create the most noise and the bowling is proving very popular. If you belong to a group which has people aged 50+ and have not received a visit just ring the usual Mansfield CVS number 651177 and ask for Terry or Celia.
