Our lecture meetings are held at the St.Peter's Center, Church Side, Mansfield at 7.30 p.m. on each 3rd Wednesday of the month from October to May.
We aim to bring a variety or archaeological topics in the talks from local interest to the wider world of the subject. Our speakers are drawn from a wealth of local enthusiasts and academics from nearby universities.
We have custody of a wide variety of artifacts recovered by the Society over many years and these are environmentally stored at Mansfield Museum. We also have created archaeological displays at the Museum both semi-permanent and temporary.
Our work in the field at present is restricted to the assistance and advice to Community projects in the East Midlands.
The report of our long-running excavation of a multi-period site near Pleasley is currently in preparation and will be published in 2015.
Mr. Robert Smith

Following retirement from employment, Mansfield Voluntary Service (C.V.S) have given me so much help and advice to start up our community group over 10 years ago. We wanted to get the children in the community a new play park. Without the help of Mansfield C.V.S directing us how to write and prepare a Business plan we wouldn’t have achieved the £68,000 to pay for it.
