and allocate funds towards these.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT SCHEME

Our new Community Support Scheme was officially launched at the Annual General Meeting held on 18 April 2007. Applications are invited from groups within our heartland that are in need of financial assistance to help with their objectives. A Community Support Scheme panel will meet in September this year and May and November in future years to consider applications and allocate awards.

In order to help your organisation or group to access up to date funding information Mansfield CVS has acquired GRANTfinder.

Established in 1985, GRANTfinder is a user-friendly funding database carrying details of in excess of 4,000 UK and EU grants, loans, venture capital and advisory programmes - a reservoir of information that is constantly growing and continuously updated.

Organisations benefiting from GRANTfinder's services include: local and national charities, local authorities, universities, housing associations, the health sector, business support agencies and blue chip companies.

Introduction

There is a wide range of support mechanisms out there in the funding world, including grants, loans, equity investments, award schemes and many more. At first glance it may seem impossible to work your way through the funding maze, and even when you have found the right source of support, there is no guarantee that you will successfully secure the funding you require. In an ideal world, you would draw up your project proposal, identify the appropriate funding body, complete the application form, obtain your funding and start work on your project! Unfortunately, the reality is that the demand for funding is high and competition is fierce. Making yourself stand out from the crowd is a must to ensure success!

The aim of this article is to address the issue of successfully securing grants, from finding the right awarding body, to completing application forms and where to go for extra help.
