		<description><![CDATA[Prince’s Trust Team Programme – Coming soon! The Prince’s Trust are now recruiting for their next Mansfield team programme When does the next team start? – The next team starts on Tuesday 21st May and finishes on Friday 9th August. Who is the programme for? – The programme is for unemployed young people between the ages of 16 and 25. How much does it cost? – Nothing – the programme is free of charge and they can even pay for public transport costs. What will young people gain on the programme?  &#8211; The Prince’s Trust work on skills which are useful for the workplace, including team building, problem solving, leadership skills, communication skills, and organisation skills.  They also support young people to build their confidence and self-esteem, and to overcome any problems which they may face.  How do I make a referral to the team programme? – Please contact the Mansfield Team Leader – Steve Elliff on 07967 690807, or email steve.elliff@notts-fire.gov.uk. 		<description><![CDATA[Literacy Volunteers help children in local primary schools have fun developing their reading and communication skills. Literacy Volunteers do not teach reading. Instead they help on a one-to-one basis with children to give them confidence in their reading and communication skills through conversation, reading, writing and playing games. Volunteers must:  Like children  Enjoy reading and communicating  Be patient, flexible and reliable  Be aged 18 – 80 Volunteers:  Go to the same school regularly for one or more sessions each week  Help children on an individual basis  Help the same children each week  Talk, read, play games, draw and write with their children  Enjoy their time with the children and make sure that the children enjoy the sessions too Volunteers are provided with:  Training  On-going support from an Area Co-ordinator  Books, games and other resources to use with their children  Travelling expenses If this is something that is of interest to you, Literacy Volunteers have a number of training courses available: In Arnold – Tuesdays 7th  and 14th  May from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm – both sessions  In Kirkby – Thursdays 9th  and 16th  May from 10 am to 1 pm – both sessions  In Mansfield – Tuesdays 9th  and 16th  July from 10 am to 1 pm – both sessions  In Nottingham (Bilborough) – Wednesdays 10th  and 17th  July 10 am to 1 pm – both sessions  In Retford – Thursdays 11th  and 18th  July from 10 am to 1 pm – both sessions  For full information please go to www.literacyvolunteers.org.uk   If anyone would like to discuss becoming a volunteer they can ring Sue Marriott on 01623 517553 or Toni Edwards on 01636 815378 or email contact@literacyvolunteers.org.uk]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[NOTTINGHAMSHIRE POLICE CADETS Nottinghamshire Police are looking for 16-year-olds living in Nottinghamshire to serve as Nottinghamshire Police Cadets. The purpose of the programme is to increase engagement between the force and those aged between 16 and 18 and provide a route into volunteering. A two-year training and development programme will begin in September 2013 and give participants the opportunity to pick up new skills, take part in exciting activities, and gain valuable volunteering experience.
